Subodh strangles the Royals, then Maninder and Rohit finish it early

South Shore Royals won the toss, batted, and were two wickets down for three runs before the first over was out. Samba Siva Tiyyagura had Vinay Kumar caught by Hemanth for nought, and a run out accounted for Jagadeesh Kommineni. Tapabrata dug in and rebuilt: 34 with Saurabh Bedi, then 17 more with Vikas Mallapati, before he fell himself for 19, five wickets down at 57. Aman Joshi and Abhilash Ediga then put together the innings' best stand, 40 for the sixth wicket, and Ediga went on to the day's top score, 30 off 33 with three fours, bowled by Subodh Mahajan, his second wicket, either side of Bedi's and the No. 10's. Three more wickets went down for just 12 runs across the final two overs, the last of them Nagendra Varma run out by Rohit Sharma off the very last ball of the innings, and South Shore Royals were all out for 133. Subodh finished with three for 21 from his four overs; Amit Malhotra took two, both in that squeeze through the middle.

The reply had its own early scare. Sukhjit Singh was caught at extra cover off the third ball of the innings, and it was Maninder Singh and Rohit Sharma who did the repairing, and then some. The pair put on 112 for the second wicket, the biggest stand of the club's season, and did it with real intent: Rohit put Vikas Mallapati's eleventh over away for three sixes and a four in four balls, twenty-four runs off the one over, and reached his own fifty off 45 balls soon after. Maninder followed him to fifty off 40, hit a six of his own next ball, and was caught at deep midwicket the ball after that for 56 off 42: three fours and two sixes. Hemanth fell for nought in the same over, both wickets to Aman Joshi, and 114 for 2 became 114 for 3 without the score moving. But they had enough runs in hand by then for it not to matter. Rohit went on to 53 before retiring hurt, and Amit Kumar and Subodh Mahajan saw the rest of it home: 134 for 3, a win by seven wickets with six overs unused, and Rohit took player of the match on his way off.
