Sachdeva's bat and ball see off Warriors at Sorbonne

We won the toss at parc Sorbonne Brossard and chose to field, which looked like the right call for about twenty overs. BCA Brossard Orange Team were poked around early, four wickets down for not much, before Maruthi Govindappa and Sankalp Sachdeva put together a fifth-wicket stand of 114 off 82 balls that turned the innings around completely. Govindappa made 73 off 62 with four fours and two sixes before he was bowled by Rohit Sharma, while Sachdeva went on to 41 off 32 with three sixes before Rohit caught and bowled him. Rohit finished with 5/36 from his six overs and Amit Kumar added 3/32, but by then BCA had posted 227/11 off their 30 overs, with Rajesh Reddy chipping in a quick 22 off 13 down the order.

Chasing 228, we never quite got the platform we needed. The top order came and went in ones and twos, Maninder Singh's 10 off 8 and Lucky's 18 off 14 the only cameos of note before the third wicket fell with just 49 on the board. Sukhjit Singh then played the innings of the day, 77 off 54 balls with seven sixes, and shared a 57-run stand with Tajinder Singh to keep the chase alive into the second half of the innings. It was not enough on its own.

Sankalp Sachdeva, who had built the total with the bat, took the game away from us again with the ball: 4/15 off his six overs, bowling Subodh Mahajan, Sukhjit Singh and Tarun Reddy, catching Lucky off his own bowling, and conceding at just 2.5 an over. Rahul Patty stayed unbeaten on 14 off 18 at the end, but we closed on 192/9 after our 30 overs, 35 runs short. Sachdeva's all-round afternoon, 41 with the bat and 4/15 with the ball, earned him the man of the match award.
