Ranjit Singh's fifty off 27 sees BCA Orange chase down 146 with ease

Brossard Warriors opened their Aman Grover Trophy weekend against BCA Brossard Orange, and it was Ramesh Babu Ravella who did the early damage.

After winning the toss, BCA Orange chose to field, hoping the softer morning pitch and lower bounce would help keep the warriors under control, but BWCc had other plans.

Both openers went cheaply, Vinay Kumar caught as the score reached 41 and Maninder Singh following soon after at 60, but it was Ramesh Babu who put on a brilliant batting display, smashing 65 runs from just 34 balls with three fours and five sixes. His assault included a 45 run partnership with Rohit Sharma for the third wicket.

Babu's knock provided the momentum the Warriors needed and with contributions from the rest of the lineup, BWCC finished their 20 overs at a competitive 146 for 8. It was a total that gave the Warriors something to defend.

For BCA Orange, Bhuvi was the standout bowler, taking four wickets. Ranjit Singh excelled with two catches, while two BWCC batters were run out as BCA showed how sharp they could be in the field.

And then came the chase.

BCA started steadily but lost Sumit in the 3rd over to Charanpreet's awesome delivery, caught at Deep extra cover by Aman Joshi. Sumit had earlier hit six off Babu, but his dismissal gave BWCC hope that they could defend the target.

What followed however was less of a chase and more of an onslaught. Ranjit Singh walked in and completely changed the complexion of the game. He launched a six off the final delivery of Babu's next over and never looked back.

Subodh Mahajan was brought into the attack, but there was no slowing Ranjit and Aman Sharma down. Fourteen runs came from that one over, followed by a massive 22-run over from Tarun. Suddenly, BCA Orange were cruising reaching 74 runs at the end of the 7th over.

From there, it was all smooth sailing. A six seemed to arrive in nearly everyover as BCA's chase gathered unstoppable momentum. Aman Sharma eventually fell for exactly 50, caught at deep midwicket by Rohit Sharma off Subodh Mahajan, but by then, the damage had already been done and Aman had made BWCC pay dearly for the two chances they had given him earlier in his innings with dropped catches.

At the other end, there was simply no stopping Ranjit Singh. He tore into the BWCC bowling attack, producing a sensational 70* (not out) from just 36 deliveries, with five fours and five sixes.

The 105 run partnership between Aman and Ranjit, was built on relentless aggression. Neither batter was content to settle for singles. Aman punished BWCC for the two lives he was given, while Ranjit kept finding the boundary with remarkable consistency. BCA orange raced to 149 in just 15.2 overs and Ranjit finished the match in style, smashing two consecutive sixes off Subodh Mahajan in the 15th over. An 8 wicket victory. BCA didn't just chase down the target.
