BCA Brossard Orange run riot in 119-run thrashing

BCA Brossard Orange Team won the toss at Parc Sorbonne, chose to bat, and made us pay for it. Aman Sharma and Viral Godhani put on 152 for the third wicket off just 95 balls, Sharma finishing with 86 from 57 (five fours, five sixes) before being caught behind by Mohit Gandhi off Gurmehakpreet Gill, and Godhani going for 53 off 42 before being stumped by the same combination. Maruthi Govindappa then came in and cleared the rope five times in an unbeaten 41 off 21, and the innings closed at 234/5 from the full 25 overs. Gill was our pick of the bowlers with 3/37 off his five overs, but everyone else went at eight an over or worse: Tajinder Singh leaked 44 off five, and Tarun Reddy's two overs cost 24.

Chasing 235, we never got moving. Maninder Singh and Hemanth put on just 9 for the first wicket, and from there it was a steady procession: two down for 12, then wickets falling in single figures throughout the middle order, and a top score for the innings of 26 from Vishaldeep Singh Gill, who was at the crease for five separate partnerships without finding much support at the other end. Sukhjit Singh at least had a swing at it, 18 off 12 with a six and two fours before being bowled by Viral Godhani, who doubled up with the ball to take 2/15 off four overs and picked up the match award for his all-round day. Tejpal went for a duck off two balls, Samba Siva Tiyyagura for a duck off one, and the innings folded for 115 in 21.2 overs.

A 119-run margin is a proper hiding by any measure, our biggest of the year, and there is not much to dress it up as. BCA's middle order simply hit through the gears while ours never got out of first, and with the ball we could not find the control to keep the total within reach. Back to the nets before the next one.
