Haroon Syed's 39 off 23 sees Warriors chase down Royals inside 7 overs

South Shore Royals won the toss at Parc Sorbonne and chose to bat first in the 10-over opener, but never found the boundaries they needed. Ved Vyas and Saurabh Bedi put on only 11 for the first wicket before Tarun Reddy had Bedi caught, and the Royals kept losing partners cheaply from there: Vyas bowled for 5, Surya Munuganti for 5, Vinay Kumar for 13, S Patil for 9. Anjan Kumar Peri gave the innings a late lift with 13 not out off 8 balls, including a six and a four, but the Royals still finished on 62 for 5 from their 10 overs. Tarun Reddy finished with 2 for 9 off his two overs, and he and Amit Malhotra shared four wickets between them for a combined 20 runs.

Chasing 63, Sukhjit Singh got the reply moving with 11 off 8 balls before he was caught off Vinay Kumar, but by then Haroon Syed was already in gear. Syed and Rohit Sharma added 45 for the second wicket in just 30 balls, with Syed doing almost all of the scoring: 35 of those runs came off his bat. He finished unbeaten on 39 from 23 balls, hitting four sixes and two fours at a strike rate of 169.57, and was named man of the match for it. Rohit Sharma stayed with him to the end on 7 not out.
